We often take the children out on trips around the local community to provide them with opportunities to develop their knowledge of the world around them; walks to our local farms, supermarkets, pet stores, shops and the nearby memorial garden and library. These experiences help to enrich the lives of the children promoting their indepence and many other skills all important in helping the children in reaching their full potential.
At Aunt Mary's we pride ourselves on giving back as much as we can. We often take part in the well known fundraising events; Children in Need, Tickled Pink etc. Yet in our small community we have charities close to our hearts; the food bank, helping to provide food for those less fortunate. Our local cafe supports the elderly by providing them a warm and caring place where they don't have to be alone. We help by donating gifts, hopefully making the big occasions like Christmas a little more joyful.
Easter is a special time where we get to enrich the children's learning through fun, stimulating activities. We provide opportunities for parents/carers to be involved with our Easter bonnet competition. The children then present their Bonnets in our Easter Bonnet Parade. We also celebrate the queens birthday around easter time too.
Christmas is another special time here as all the children get creative making individual, heartfelt crafts for home. We have a concert the first week in December where parents and carers get to come to see the children's long, hard work pay off. In the run up to Christmas we have special events taking place, such as trips out to pantomines and Santa even pays a visit to nursery! We also enjoy a yummy Christmas dinner.
At Aunt Mary's every year before the preschool children leave for school, we have a celebratory Prom party. For this the children and aunties come dressed up and we enjoy lots of dancing, games and party food.
As a final farewell to the preschool children we hold a special Graduation, inviting parents and relatives to come and watch the children perform some songs. Before this happens the parents and relatives watch a personalised Dvd slideshow; this is a montage of images of the children taken during their time in nursery. These dvds along with a group photograph, a photograph of their child in the graduation robe, a scrap book of art work, maths and literacy work books aswell as a certificate are given as a memento.
